Part A: Answer the following questions in your notebook:

 

1)      Describe Frankenstein as a character:

2)      Who is the author of the novel upon which the movie is based?

3)      Why do people confuse Dr Frankenstein with his creature?

4)      How is the monster constructed?

5)      What is the motivation of the Dr. to bring the monster to life?

6)      Is Dr Frankenstein more like a “God/ Creator” to the monster or a “Parental” figure?  Explain your reasons for your opinion with details from the movie/novel:

7)      Dr Frankenstein and the people of Mary Shelly’s age believed that given enough time Science would solve all of mankind’s problems.  From the film, consider that there are there problems that science may not be able to solve. You may use  Global Warming, or another of your choice in the news, and explain why you believe science may be powerless.

 

 

Part B: As we have seen in the 8 key concepts of media literacy, we construct media the way Dr Frankenstein constructed his creature-- Compare and contrast in a Venn Diagram #1 our relationship to media ( TV/ FILM /RADIO /NEWS etc. ) and #2 Dr Frankenstein’s relation to his creature.

  5. It is hard to find a news broadcast today that fails to carry a story regarding the ethical implications of cloning, was Victor prepared to respond to what he created, to anticipate its needs, and provide for them?

  6. In what way’s can our personal dreams become creatures with lives of their own?

  7.  How do we deal with dreams that don’t come true as we imagine they should?
